Capacitive phase probes are used in accelerator systems to determine the phase of a particle
beam. The read out electronics uses the 2nd harmonics of the accelerator base frequency induced by
the beam bunches to determine the phase relative to a master oscillator phase. This phase can be detected for beam currents down to less than 5 nA. |
